windshield 71. another dumb question.

windshield 71. another dumb question.
Folks, my 71 came with a 79 windshield, of course you see the 1 in
black inside (79 dash is higher up on cowl), so 2 questions, is
the 'shape' of the 79 vs the 71 the same or is there more glass at bottom corners for the hidden wipers (car is apart now so cannot tell), 2nd.. and only because I have not tried yet, can I paint remover the
black 1 in line so it does not show? (of course only if it is the same shape)

Hi a,
Here's an example of the shape of the 71 windshield along its bottom edge.
Perhaps you can compare the photos to your windshield to see the differences.
You can also see the upper limit of the blacked out area relative to the dash pad.

so, maybe I am wrong, but the 79 windshield should work ok if I just
removed the 1 in line that shows when the 71 dash is in, looks like
there will be no wiper issue, and Thanks for taking the effort and time for those pics, very nice finish, hope I can make my barn find as nice. Mike.
