its nearly time for dreaded body mount replacement.
i have a 1980 Manual L48 350 c3 Corvette
I’m from Australia Melbourne and I need help.
can anyone give me a step by step procedure of how to remove and replace the body mounts, including if I find rusted body mount brackets and how to replace them.
also what needs to be loosened and undone from the body to lift a side at a time to change the mounts.
Do I need to loser bumpers etc...
also where can I buy body mount kit and body mount bracket kits in case I have to cut them and replace them.
Hi RT,
I'd think a 'lean' to one side or the other is typically a suspension issue not a body mount issue.
I'd be looking at the suspension bushings rather than the body mount bushings.
Regards,
Alan
I lifted the body completely off my 80 vette, and i had one broken nut cage on the frame to tack weld that was it. For a Canadian car i was amazed how little to no rust damage i had to repair. I went with all Polly body mounts when i put the body back down.
Spray as many of your body mount bolts as you can get too with A foam blaster or a rust loosener, let that sit for a day.
I have seen this video, my car is a 80 model do I assume would be slightly different
Robby-T, I know this thread is a few years old but wondering if you ever figured out how to lift the body on an '80 just enough to do mounts? There is some good info on earlier C3's around but it remains unclear what the procedure is for an 80. The factory service manual and assembly information manual is of little help. By the way I am from Perth but live in Nashville TN.
