I am getting ready to reattach my door skin to the door frame. I have cleaned the door skin of all old glue. Door frame has been cleaned to bare metal and has been sprayed with an etching primer. Is there anything else that I need to do to the metal door frame in preparation for reglueing? Thanks for any advise, Laz

It will all depend on WHAT you are using to bond the skin back on with.

The critical thing that you should consider is to follow what the manufacture of the adhesive you plan on using wants for surface preparation and not apply what you think it needs. Because IF you apply something that is NOT advised by that manufacturer...it can loose its bond...Simple as that.

The reason I know this...is because SEM does NOT want any primer and they want the metal ground really rough. And due to their adhesives are epoxy based. As long as all bare metal is covered with their product...the metal will not rust.

So it all depends. And generally an etch primer is an acid...which may not work well. You need to do some checking first.
