Pulling what hair I have left out!!!!My 81 C3 wipers decided (out of the blue) they did not want to work. After checking things I decided the motor assy was bad. Got a new one from Napa put it in and still same problem. No work, seems to be some power/ground issues. The ground connection from the motor has continous power. The center wire on the 3wire has continous power. When the ground wire is connected it sparks and leaving it on it gets warm as well as the 3wire connection. (Ignition switch on and wiper switch on.) Is the relay behind the psgr seat bad?? or something else. Any suggestions appreciated. thanks
SO...the three wire connector is supposed to have power on the center terminal when the key is ON.
BUT..reading what you wrote., Does the individual BLACK ground wire that you slide on the male spade terminal that is bolted to the wiper motor have POWER ON IT??
IF it does. The black wire down at your starter is BOLTED to the large stud on teh solenoid where your positive battery cables attaches. This black wire needs to be bolted to one of the starter bolts or to one of the transmission bellhousing bolts.
The BLACK wire that plugs to the spade terminal MUST be a ground.
Dub Thank you for your response. I needed to back away from it for a while a d re-aproach the issue. I found it right away, when I attached the arms to the motor i neglected to rotate the arm link and it was hitting the body. I took it off and re-attached it turned on the switch/wiper switch plugged wires in and everythig worked as it should. It is all back together and fine now. Thanks again for your input.
