I've bought a new radio/CD player. The current instrument bezel on my 70 Vette has not been cut out to fit a 7"+wide radio. Yes, I know I can spend some bucks and buy a new one from Ecklers that is cut out, but it won't match my current paint. Has anyone cut their original bezel? Does it work ok? Suggestions?
Back in the day- early 80's- I cut up a bunch of C3 dashes while installing stereos to put me through college... I'd grind it out with an air powered die grinder and put a cheesy metal textured cover plate on it. It didn't look good back then and think looks worse today!!!
I would NOT cut up an original piece- unless it was broken- or already modified. But to each his own...
AND - these D1N radios make it really easy to remove and replace the center dash.... well, that, and the fact that the bottom is separated from the top where it was cracked at the corners

Wish my bezel wasnt cut. The PO must have been a butcher! What stereo are you installing? I want to replace the bezel in mine and install a good stereo.
