not used to driving a 68 conv't, but do they all rattle a lot especially in the rear ??
With the top down on my 68 convert, I do not hear any rattles. With the top up, there are quite a few noises. My top fits tightly, but the noise is mainly when I hit bumps and may be from the locking pins on the rear. I drive mostly with the top down, so I don't worry about it.
My 79 rattled like a bucket of bolts when I first test drove it. It was really off-putting, I almost didn't buy it. Later found several pieces of metal in the driver's door. Removed those and all the rattling was gone.
Most of my rattling was the empty spare tire carrier, even with one broken rear body mount it's pretty quiet now with foot off gas anyway, (BB w/Hooker side pipes mask all road noise)

My '68 convertible project literally rattled like a bucket of bolts. I rebuilt the entire suspension........added rubber anti-rattle "donuts" to all linkage in doors/deck lid/etc......secured all wires behind the dash.....replaced door hinge pins & bushings......etc.
