Default Right C3 tires sizes

New to the Vette world. Restoring a 70 Coupe. Need to buy tires. Plan on buying the BF Goodrich T/A's. I want a little of an aggressive look. The local Vette shop, who's been around for 40 years, tells me to install 225/70/15 on the front and 275/60/15 on rear. Experiences and thoughts?

You also might want to look into 255/60/15 and 275/60/15
Diameter inches (mm) Front 27.05 Rear 27.99

The 225/70/15 are 27.4 just skinnier.

Since the guy who told me to put 225/70/15 on the front and 275/60/15 on the rear... owns the local Corvette shop and has for 40 years... I am thinking these are the numbers, especially for the rear. Just a good guess.

Personally I like the looks of the 225 all the way around. For my 74 that’s the closest size to OEM.

I'm running 245-60-15 BFG's all around on my 73. I believe they look great and can be rotated front to rear.

If you will put lots of miles on the car you may want the same size tires all the way aroundto make it better for rotating them front-to-rear. If not, make it look the way you like it best.

I really like the uniformity of the same diameter and side walls front to rear.
To me it gives a cleaner look.
Just my .02 cents.

She's wearing 235/60 15 front and 255/60 15 rear, has been lowered 1.5 inches and have no problem with clearance when turning or over bumpy roads.

Plus, it allows you to be able to rotate your tires.

235 width tires are the widest that will "guaranteed" fit without rubbing prior to 1975. Some get away with 245's; very few fit 255's without rubbing.

Modern equivalent to the stock tires is 215R70-15's. But, by today's standards, those look puny. 235R60-15's are about the same diameter as the stock tires, so no change to the speedo gears required.

Don't know how well you can see the tires on my avatar, but that's what's on my car. (Photobucket has my other pics.... ).

If anyone is in the Salt Lake City area and wants to see if a 245R60-15 fits I have a spare mounted on a stock rally rim :-)

Discount Tire has both 225-70-15 and 255-60-15 in both the BFG and Cooper Cobra GT in RWL. I bought a set of 255 Coopers for my '79 Vette yesterday - they were $106 each (a total of $520 for the set installed, balanced, etc.). The BFG's were $176 each, so that's why I went with the Coopers.
