Default Qudrajet

Need some suggestions on changing a 4bbl quadrajet to Holly or Eldebrock on a 79 350 L82. If anyone has done this would like to what changes you had to do any what size of carb to use...……

a well rebuilt qjet is your friend.

to answer your question a 650 to 750 cfm.....you need to know the bore size of the intake you have and you need to have an engineered accelerator linkage set up with dual springs.....if its an electric choke you need to figure where your switched power is coming from so the choke isn't always turned on

do you need a heat shield, a phenolic spacer, a new fuel line

also what are you going to do for an air cleaner??

I wound up going back to Qjet rebuilt by lars and a stock dual cold air intake off of a 79
my final set up and it ran great with cold air

holleys with the bowls on either ends really benefit from heat shields

Please sell my your Q-Jet when you pull it off. That's the Hi Performance 800 cfm Q-Jet that is unmatched for performance on that car. I have people standing in line looking for that carb, so please downgrade your car to a little 650 Holley or Edelbrock, with the 20 hp loss that you're going to get, and send the Q-Jet to me.
