Okay the 13bats, I’ve read through some of your other posts. I can see you are a positive person who helps others when he can. I put some effort in to try and share something I was excited about with others who may be in the same position, not modifying their car and getting some good sound. You meant well, I was being over sensitive. All is good!
And i do plan to check that box out, i like its self powered feature,
I never know what i wanna hear and sometimes like jeff i just wanna hear my engine, but other times tunes and with mp3 i carry a few 1000 with me on a zip, what a cool age we live in,
Now, to just get my 69 running and driving

I just listened to the engine for 24 years, finally pulled the trigger and had some tunes installed. I took the engine sound for granted. Just listening to the engine is a special treat now.

I wish your ears well....but not sure they will make it thru life without significant hearing loss. Oh well--you're too young to think about being mostly deaf by 50.
P.S. I played in front of bass speakers for most of a decade. Should have used some ear plugs.....

I have been looking for something like this. Got mine from Walmart 2day free shipping to my door! This thing is the deal. Will fit in a coupe. You can position it so if you want access to your storage you can. Finally a rig you can hear w/tops off blazing down the HWY!! The only thing is, I'm going to relocate the power switch to the front of the unit. THIS THING ROCKS!!!
How much room from the top of the unit to bottom of the rear deck?

Any updates on the speaker? Still running good? Have any of you hardwired it to the car to get constant 12V power? I haven't bought one yet but I think this route will be cheaper than buying a new head unit and speakers.

I’ve run it all summer and the sound is still really nice. I don’t think you will find better quality sound at any price. I was hoping gjohnson would update as well. I would like to move the switch to the front as well. I’m going to clip the cigarette charger end off and go directly to the battery

I have one of these in my '70 coupe. Fits like it was made for it. A couple of thoughts:
Sound is about 7/10. It lacks mid range and high end, but I dig blasting classic hip-hop and rattling the car. (Great for locating loose fasteners) .
The switch is on the back of the unit. You need to anchor this unit (it will roll forward on a hard brake) . I recommend removing the battery from the unit, and using a switched 12V power line.
The 12V supply line sticks straight out the back of the unit. It is a 5.5 x 2.5 male plug. You need a 90 degree connector so you can snug the back up to the rear wall.
The USB plug comes out the top. Again, you need a 90degree USB cable for top clearance
Granted, this is not an audiophiles stereo, but I think I paid $220 on sale at Costco. For the price, it is an awesome drop in that won't require molesting your car. I like leaving the original FM stereo alone (Hell, that cost $278 in 1970!)
The lit speakers look great, and you can remove it any time.
