Sorry if this has been asked an answered but I could not find it in search. I have a 1974 Corvette that I would like to remove the body so I can work on some frame and suspension issues. The previous owner installed a fiberglass front bumper cover. It is glued on. My question, is it possible to lift the body off without removing the front bumper cover? Thanks for any help on this.
YES...BUT the problem you have due to them doing this is that the impact bars on the front and rear will need to be removed from the frame to be able to lift it and THIS will be no easy task.
Not so much of trying to raise the body...but trying to get it back on the frame when you go to put it back down.
I have had to do this on very few cars and it can be done....but it can be A PAIN...especially on the front bumper extensions that bolt to the frame and go through the front of your inner skirts.

Thanks for the info. That's about what I thought. The rear bumper Fiberglass cover is not glued and easily removed. I can see where it is going to be difficult. Guess I'll have to decide if it's worth it.
Is it possible for the necessary parts to be loosen/removed so that the body can be lifted about 10" and wooden blocks placed between the frame and the body while the repair work is being done? I was able to do several repairs with ease without lifting the body completely off the car. Of course the front clip and the rear clip will have to be supported to avoid sagging.
