70 Big block, low sale price
Heard about this car selling for $24K at a BJ auction last weekend.
Seems rather low for a low mileage matching numbers.
Anyone know this car?
Reason for the low sale price?

An automatic without AC, maybe 10% low but not outrageous. Well bought but not a steal... YMMV

Wonder if there was something off with the 70 which didn't show in pictures...

BB70 I agree from the pics and description the selling price is way off. I have been posting 70 LS5's for sale and at auction in the 70 LS5 Thread and the selling price for this White 70 LS5 is not even in the ballpark.

I was there Saturday and saw this car in the lot. There are a few mitigating factors in the case of this car. First big reason for the low price is that it was sold on Thursday. Second the pictures don't do the best job of representing the actual condition of the car in my opinion the paint wasn't "all that", don't get me wrong I wouldn't refuse it if it was given to me but I too also would not have paid top dollar. Third a lot of the details that are visible with doors closed, hood closed weren't right, again don't get me wrong its very nice but suffice to say there is a lot of work left if one were to desire a top flight.

since no reserve sale, I would suspect that the owner bought the bid, because the money was not there

Without seeing the cars in person its hard to judge. I see some ads with dozens of photos show everything a buyer would want to see. You still don't know for certain until you do a hands on inspection. I feel any really clean BB will command a price north of 30K. I see some 68-70s offered well over 50K, one at $90,000! You have to wonder how motivated the seller is. I expect in some cases, mom wants the car sold. Dad lists it high showing her the KBB. After a month or so, its, "well honey I tried to sell it but nobody wants it. I guess I'll have to keep it." Don't forget, the major auction houses charge a 10% buyer premium on top of the gavel price.

Mileage is reasonable but not super low
Color combo/ Auto probably contribute. The comment about overall condition Im sure plays into it, dont think #s matching automatically makes a car worth a ton more.
To some it means a lot, to most its a "thats nice honey" thing, nothing more.
4-5 yrs ago just about anything from that era brought tons of money during the TV craze, not so much anymore.

I follow the 70-72 LS5 prices and sales and those at auction and this as low as I have seen one sell for. My guess is it's not SOLD and will be up for auction again soon.

In pictures you can't tell a turd from a Baby Ruth. You have to get close enough to smell it. Not many people want a low option coupe especially a 454 with no PS. I also have looked & bought many Corvettes & for sale or at auctions if it seems the price is too good to be true it probably is.

You assume a lot my friend. Need to be sure it has all the original parts, origional front end,carb,5 port washer pump ETC.Evedence it's a true 40,000 MI Corvette. There are many things that would mean the difference in a 24,000.00 & a 50,000.00 70 454. From the pictures one can't tell.
