70 Big block, low sale price

I just brought this 1970 LS5 home for $25,000. Numbers match. Power steering, power windows, no AC. Beautiful body and paint, chassis is solid and clean. Runs and drives perfectly. So there's another real world data point.

Figure if you're picky you'll end up pouring a lot of money in these low 20k cars to make them nice but that's no different than any other old car.
These cars are bargains, with inflation they are losing value. It's a shame if you have one and put a lot of money and time into it, great if you're looking to buy.
The asking prices for most of these is the same as it was 15 years ago when I bought mine. From a financial point of view I should have bought a C2, liked these better in drop top form.

if they are indeed selling for mid 20's, this is getting scary....
gotta be something wrong with the car and not just the market..
rust?
a pig with lipstick?
estate sales?

That Black 72 LS5 Vert with AC that Sold on a online auction for 22,000.00 is for sale on eBay for 53,000.00 That's why I don't believe the low SALE prices at these auctions.

I didn't see the referenced auction listing results on Hemmings. Since a Missouri dealer ship has listed it on eBay for $52,995, it is certainly conceivable that dealer was the high bidder at $22,000. I wouldn't rule out that auction report as misleading. There are lots of specialty dealers nationwide. They have to get their inventory somewhere. When you auction any item, Corvette or an antique vase, unless there is a reserve, its a crap shoot. Your item could set a record high price, or sell for next to nothing.

not the car, its the old car market in general....things cost more, less expenable $ to go around for toys.
Been putting mine up for sale on./off last 2 yrs...going by responses the cars real life selling value is about half of what it was;appraisals, options, rare stuff means absolutely spit cause theres always another hard case selling a nicer one for less.
The potential buyers were all in the 50ish up crowd, they know what old cars really are (or arent) worth. Hate to say it but its the truth.
So make it yours, dont worry about future value cause who knows....life is short!
