Not sure if this has been posted, but first I had heard of it and found it quite interesting. If the quote about Delorean killing it is true it would not surprise me. He came up in GM hating Chevrolet and Corvette's.
Delorean didn't hate the Corvette or Chevrolet. He despised the Chevy leadership and the way they controlled the direction of all GM cars. If he had hated the Corvette, he wouldn't have worked for years trying to produce a Pontiac copy of it.

Not being allowed to be produced the Banshee was a claw in his azz for many years. He was an ego maniac and that car would've had Zora's name all over it.... or by that time had he simply became one of them??? IDK...just a bummer it was canned!
I think this car is in the National Corvette Museum. I'll have to go back and look at my pics. I have a story in one of my reference books that tell of the day they let the press drive the car, they were revving it up in neutral it at the starting line and dropping it into drive.

We have a 1969 Monaco Orange L-88 on display in the Skydome, on loan from Proteam Corvettes.
