I have a 1980 corvette and have a lot of rust on the top front of my door just under the rubber window molding. Can this be fixed or does it have to be replaced. If fixed how is the best way.
I see you just joined this forum, welcome and here is a bump to the top for you so hopefully someone may see it like Dub or one of the many other qualified to answer people. As far as can it be fixed, lots of things can be fixed but sometimes they aren’t worth fixing. You should probably try and get some pictures up so you can get a proper answer. There is also a paint and body section where you might get a faster reply.
In about 90% of the cases where I have run into this area being rusted. I can fix it and not need to get a used door.
I can say that it may get a little bit expensive...due to the small area you are dealing with. But when dealing with rust...it is what it is and the costs of the materials may seem a bit high. because the amount of what you are buying and only using small amount for this one area may seem like a waste.
The weatherstrip has metal in it and it will rust/crumble causing this area to bubble up under the paint. You need to clean it up and remove the weatherstrip screws and open it up to see what is actually under that. Some times it is not that bad.
