Fire Extinguisher mounting pics
I've been reading some posts where guys have little fires and put them out with an on-board fire extinguisher. I would like to start carrying one in my '73 Coupe. Can you please post some pictures, and extinguisher details, of how you mounted a fire extinguisher in your Vette?
Thanks,
John

Some people have made a bracket to span the front seat bolts and then bolt the extinguisher to that bracket.
Mine's a bit different but the idea could be reproduced in a simpler manner

I have mine in front of the passenger seat, same as Mooser. No picture however. I believe I got the bracket from vetteWorks although I am not sure if they sell it anymore. It bolted to the existing holes. In any event you want the extinguisher in plain sight and within quick easy reach, no fooling around reaching for it..

I mounted mine behind the passenger seat on the storage compartment door. Very good idea to have an extinguisher on hand, and I even carry them in my newer cars.

Corvette Mods sells the in front of the passenger seat fire extinguisher mount. Part number 11604 costs $85.

I don't have a pic, but mine is just in front of the driver's seat, as well. Drill one hole for a band-clamp mounting screw, install the clamp and you're done. I have a 2-pound powder extinguisher. I locate the 'trigger' end of the bottle inboard, so I can't kick it by accident.
If I experience a fire, I want my hands on that gizmo....NOW!

Just another Corvette guy
I mount mine on the center T bar.
Plenty of room up there. Doesn't interfere with the rear storage for the tops and offers fast access in or out of the car.
I just use a good, heavy duty 3M Velcro to hold it in place.
Looks kinda cool too

Morning everybody,
per requirement for certain classic rallyes (2.5 KG min total extinguisher capacity for steel cars/ 5 KG min for "Plastic/Wood/Composite"..cars)
I fabbed an aluminium extension plate attached to the two front seat rail bolts, and used then the original mount (no drilling in car body)
and very easy to remove at least one of them for daily use.
Really not as "invasive" as it looks, the copiloting wife has little complaints.
Spent more time finding black ones then fabbing the mounts.
Best regards
Freddy

Melting Slicks
simple 1/8" flat bar bracket that mounts to the seat rail bolts.
excuse the dirty carpet, only photo i had showing the extinguisher in front of drivers seat..
i have the seat all the way rearward, so didn't have to worry about mounting it so it moves with seat.

WE put ours on the passenger trans tunnel, as my wife is short and it would have made for a less comfortable seating position. It doesn't get in the way, and fortunately we haven't had to use it, although we regularly practice getting it ready; we're down to 8 secs at the moment, i'm aiming for 5. Before we bought the car, on the way to a Corvette show and shine, we saw a burnt out C2, its whole drivers side rear arch was completely melted. The owners gratefully escaped intact, it was caused by the handbrake being on whilst driving causing the brake pads to heat up and ignite. Its so easy to leave the handbrake just on, especially if your handbrake on warning light doesn't work.
