Default Powered Subwoofer Question

I now have two 6x9's in the rear and two 4x6's in the kick panels. I would like to add more bass in the rear but don't want to go crazy. I was wondering if any of you have tried those shallow depth 8" powered subs in these acoustically challenged flat back Vettes offered by the likes of Fosgate, Kenwood and Infinity? What's your take on it? Did you feel you still needed more bass using these type of shallow depth powered subs?

I went with this R-F unit.
And I'm happy with it - for what I paid ($180) and the size of it.
It fits nicely in the rear compartment, and I have it laying down now, with the wiring installed and hidden coming right out of the driver side rear corner.
I like having the bass control up front, which I mounted to the underside of the passenger lower dash.
It won't rattle the neighbors' windows, but it gets me enough punch as I'm driving down the road with the T-Tops off.
I also have since added a little Boss 200W 2-channel amp for the front speakers (also R-F). Was a well-spent $30!
I was able to tuck that one up under the lower passenger dash panel, and attached it with some good Velcro patches.

I don't have a compact powered sub in my Vette, but I do in my daily driver, and I echo what others have said. It won't rattle the windows, but it definitely makes a difference. I went with a Sound Ordnance 8" sub from Cruchfield (it's their house brand) and after a few months, I've been happy with it. It has a remote control **** that you mount anywhere to control the bass. What I have in my Vette is a big sub and sub box in the cargo area, and it will rattle the windows, but it takes up a helluva lot of room. I usually have to take it out for road trips because I don't have enough room for all my stuff.

Thanks for your responses everyone. Well, I couldn't resist. I bought the JL Audio 8" powered subwoofer. Pretty amazing piece of gear. Overkill...maybe. But I can always dial it down. I figured better to have more than not enough. And to be honest, laying down its not much bigger than the small boys. I'm going to buy a suitcase version T-top case and that way I can just toss it on top of the sub if need be. Typically I never bring T-tops with me. I heard this puppy in a Subaru Impreza and let me tell you...it freakin' rocked. So I found one for almost half price like new and couldn't resist.

If you go for more sound stuff than you already have [in a C3 Corvette], you've gone crazy. The C3's interior space is not meant for good audio reproduction. And there are better things to do in a C3 than tickle your inner ear hairs with flawless music. Shoot, with a great sub-woofer, you wouldn't be able to hear the rumble of your exhaust!
