I have been looking at a lot of pics of the engine compartment of other c3’s and they all looked to be smooth and flawless across the front side of the wiper bay. Mine looks like it has been repaired. Or is that normal ??? Never saw one that was repaired so I really have nothing to compare. All of you with experience in repairs on their part of the front end please chime in. Thanks

Possibly repaired/not easy to see in the pics...….but could use some (re-)repairing.

Whole nose might have been put on. I have a repro nose in the yard and that strip isn't even there.

Right across the front of the wiper bay it looks like it’s been patched, or is that factory??

A better way to ask could have been "Original or repaired". I obviously cant help but good luck in your quest

typically if it hasn’t been repaired it would be original, but thanks for the advice

I have seen new hood surrounds that are sold with the cross-over section (the strip that runs across the top of the plenum ) left much bigger to help it survive transport , the idea is to trim it up when you glue it to your body I suppose . Yours looks like it just wasn't trimmed properly ,also didn't the factory black out paint go on after it was all glued together so I would say its an add on clip ,just roughly finished off .

the color variation in the top strip is just in the flash of the pic. It is the same color as the rest of it.
So I gather from your post that the top strip is typically removed after installation?? Thanks

the rough rear side edges on yours is where the extra glass was removed and you can see the rough cut finish on the right hand side where it was trimmed off flush to form the edge of the guard
