Can anyone tell me where the low fuel indicator light is on my 73, if there is one?
I'm replacing dash lights with LED's and would like to order all that's necessary at the same time. Also, isn't there one in the wiper switch area?

Sorry, but the low fuel indicator lamp didn't start until 1977... I know because I'm the company that makes the reproduction module for the 77-82 cars... 1973 cars didn't have this option. I'm not sure where this chart came from but it's wrong. https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...77-82-usa-made

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I didn't think so either, but I got this chart for bulbs somewhere on the Forum. I need to find the correct bulb listing for '73, so I can replace with LED's - some bright (dash) and some warm (cabin). I really appreciate your reply. Didn't think I was going to get any...

Very early 68 Corvettes had a low fuel red lens, and it was mentioned in the 68 sales brochure, but it did not work. They never hooked it up to anything. Lou.
Was it optional in '77? Did it come the Convenience Group option, or whatever it was called?
Yes.. but it can be added to any car. The module and the pcb are both set up to go once installed. We tweaked the module readings so that it would kick the light on a bit earlier than the GM module which would put you at almost no fuel in the tank, but the light works off power ground and the ohms input from the sender.
Could this be made to fit and work with other C3's regardless of year? I have a 1968 and I am doing a restromod and I would like to have this function where the lens normally says HEAD LAMP.

Yes, it was part of the "Convenience Group". Not available as an individual option. The convenience group had different items depending on the year. Underhood light, headlamp on reminder buzzer, low fuel alert, intermittent wipers, additional interior courtesy lamps, courtesy light delay and passenger vanity mirror are among the things included in the group. It was an extremely popular option.

Have a 73 Stingray and this would give me great piece of mind when the wife takes it out. Would you recommend a specific module to install on the '73 or would this be even possible? I'm still new to this and would like to make this a first upgrade to the car, but I don't want to go down a rabbit hole.....
All you folks that want to add this need to realize that it needs GOOD ohms input from the fuel sending unit to work properly. If your sender and/or fuel gauge don't operate [or don't operate well], the low fuel lamp may not come on when you expect it. "Things" can be adjusted, if the sender works and its signal can be accessed. Think and plan before you '***-u-me' that all will work fine if you purchase and install it. I'm fairly confident that Ernie agrees with me on this.
Know what you have and how this unit works with it, so that you will succeed with the project.

I agree with you, but also hope you realize this is the purpose for most of our posts. We are trying to gain more information about the intricacies of our cars and how we can make convenient upgrades. Many of us, including myself, already do our research and don't simply just expect things to "plug and play." Gaining insight from a group of fellow Corvette owners is likely the best research tool we have access to and considering our common interest, we aren't just looking to do a sloppy job. Nor do we "***-u-me" things will always go right the first time. These cars each have a personality of their own, and I have certainly discovered this about my own. Being a fairly new owner, I feel I am apart of an elite group of individuals due to the prestige of the vehicle. I appreciate everyone's feedback and tips, but also hope others understand some of us may not be as "savvy" as others when it comes to making upgrades. Don't just "***-u-me" we are all on the same level of understanding/experience when it comes to the mechanical/electrical schematics of these cars.
That "***-u-me" you are miffed about applies to ALL of us. It is an ongoing risk that we all face when working on a new project. My comment was intended for you to re-think all the details relating to installation of THAT device in YOUR car, so that it will work once installed. I've been there (I think most folks on the CF have) and we tend to assume success from the onset. Knowing the status of the affected system[s] in your car is an important step in the process....and the one that many people miss when making this kind of change. There was no INSULT intended.

Here's what made up the ZX2 Convenience Group in 77 and the image of the LOW FUEL lite up!
When I repaired my low fuel module I also was curious when exactly the light came on. With a bone dry original tank with bladder I added 1 gallon at a time. When I finished adding my 3rd gallon and while measuring the 4th the light was on. There is about a 20 second delay before the light comes on my thinking is to compensate for fuel sloshing.
Being this old thread has legs again, curious how much fuel GM said is actually left in the tank when it lights up?
Here's when mine lit up.
Can't say exactly how much but I once experimented by intentionally running out of gas a couple times. In my stock '79 I got about 15 miles of conservative city driving or about twice that at 55 mph cruising. In other words it means, "GET GAS NOW!"
