ZL1 parts?

Almost as fast as it'll run....
I know a guy that bought a new Chevy ZZ454 (new style L88) for $10k and he almost popped 22k for the new aluminum bowtie ZL1 version.
That was a steal for an original one.

Around 1980 I was looking for a big block to put in my 1977 Z28. Guy had an L88 Short block that came from Gm in a thick plastic bag. 12 1/2 to 1 pistons.
Forged crankshaft, Rods were supposed to be magnafluxed from GM but when the machine shop had the rods magnafluxed they found 2 rods that had cracks around the bolt shoulders. Motor came with two bare cast iron open chamber heads in GM boxes and 16 solid lifters in GM boxes. $1800.00 dollar. Pistons were Fly Cut for a .650 lift cam and blueprinting was maybe $2300 or so. Still have the receipt somewhere.
