legit stamp pad codes?
I agree that the tank sheet look OK, but the dealer sheet looks OK to me, too. I'd sure like to know the 'giveaways'. That document appears to be printed from a teletype (like) printer. None of those have been around for over 40 years; and it does not appear to be printed with a modern printer.

The fonts are incorrect for one thing. Most are close, some are correct, some are just wrong. The number 9 in the large printed stamp is completely wrong. Look at other window stickers and you will be able to see. If I have time I will post a side by side from a real WS. But this is just the beginning. The positioning of certain info is not correct.
As for old paper. You can buy it on ebay. Its out there. Even if you don't have original old computer type paper you can make the perforations with a $5 perforater available at any craft store. I can post fake window stickers that have misspellings and things of that nature that have good looking paper. The other fake papermaker who goes by winvoices says he has old paper on his website. So these guys have the paper.
If you take the time you can compare the fonts on the tank sticker to those of the WS and some fonts will not match.
All the forms GM printed out were done on a IBM 1403 high speed dot matrix printer. The type was unique. These forgers are using a IBM selectric typewriter with the font ball and probably using the 1403 font ball. Its close but some things are different. Also a typewriter does not lay down the print the same way a dot matrix does and that can be seen up close. They are printing the forms. The masters they are using are from real documents in most cases but they do not know that sometimes during the model year run the forms were changed. Its hard to know everything. Also, the print outs were set up using a mainframe requiring a programmer to set up how items print. So they are very consistent. Its not like there can be any spelling error on one form and not another. These were not typed by people. An order was entered into the fields, options checked and a printout gets made. Changes would get made but very few. In 1969 they made a change that head restaints were no longer an option to choose buy by law were standard. So that was an option you would only see on documents up to a certain point. If I see it on a document after that specific date for example then I know its a fake.
I like 69s and have the paperwork down. The 71 I am not as familiar with but the fonts are same. I know this one is junk.

The engine code was put in one letter at a time, manually...and not very well, at that.

IT IS A CERTIFIED LEGIT PAD... the one you said is not legit with the individually stamped suffix code... is certified legit.

Generally speaking, cars with excuses carry with them a reduction in value, IMO.
