Steve.. hate to say it.. but there is only one manufacturer of this item to my knowledge... Al might make them... I'd have to check... But I'll keep looking for an original one, if you do get a good one let me know.

I bought some pull straps years ago and was shocked that they came with that countersunk straight slot screw. I thought it looked like it should be on a tractor or something. I used different hardware. I guess I got luck as mine seem to be OK and have not broken like yours............yet.

The stock plastic one looks like crap for openers - is what it is. The vinyl you put on it looks 1000% times better and very "OEM." Nice work.

Minor update: I did not include the vendor in this thread because it’s not about transaction feedback, it’s about awful repro parts. Anyway, I chose not to return the junk because it would have cost me as much to return ship them, but I got a little satisfaction by reaming their Customer Service for selling this junk in the first place.

They issued a refund for the purchase price, which was a good move, anyway.

when i buy parts i try to follow the NCRS, " NO Chinese Repo **** "

but being downunder, it's hard when something turns up and it's wrong, most times it costs more in postage to return an item than the item cost in the first place.

Well, a little more good news. My second order resulted in the parts that were very close to what I had originally. Similar material, thickness, quality, width, correct hardware. Much better. It’s amazing how bad the others are in comparison.

Since this is a quality piece, you need to give a thumbs up to whoever you bought them from. Let us all know.

I bought them from Corvette Central. I was able to see in their picture that they were better quality than the ones I ordered before. I would advise anyone ordering to only order from a place that can show you enough detail to tell the difference.

Lol.. that was my first guess from the onset due to the stupid shipping costs. I agree with a previous post that ebay seems to be a better deal for smaller parts. Glad you got it ironed out.

Just to clear, I did not buy the original replacement (junk) set from CC. At the time I assumed the products were all the same at all the vendors. Turns out they are not, and now I know a picture should be provided if ordering them.

I stayed away from the actual original vendor because this isn’t a Transaction Feedback thread, it’s a “ look at this junk” thread.

Repop parts for almost all old cars suck. I Regret spending close to 5k on mine...shoulda spent the same at a good upholstery shop (look for a lot of older guys working there) would have been much better
AFter driving this thing half a dozen times the coloring on the vinyl (*way thinner than the originals) is coming off.
Pay me now or pay me later they say!

So for me the loss is big. I really have to be care full before buying anything.

And this is regarding a quality, a few weeks ago, I bought a used T5WC transmission, that $650 is gone, I will never get it, he will never ship it to me :- (

Compared to the OEM parts, most of these replacement parts are crap. I bought a vent control cable for my 71, installed and adjusted it, opened and closed the vent maybe four or five times and it broke. The center adjuster is some kind of cheap plastic not nearly as robust as the GM part. $26.95 wasted.

Not the first and won't be the last. My passenger side replacement mirror keeps loosening up. Loctite (blue) has proved useless.

I don't blame the Chinese. They can make a better part. I blame the American importers of this crap that want the cheapest price to their maximize profit. They get what they pay for, but with their mark ups, we sure don't.

Here is how I fixed my droopy side view mirrors. I actually made the passenger side a little too tight but that is good so I don't have to realign it very often.
