I replaced the transducer - it was bad. However, with the new one in place the cruise control still is not working. What else should I be looking at - fuses? New to the forum here - so thanks in advance for the help.
Don't forget to hook up the ground. I replaced mine a few years ago, tested it before mounting in the holder. Work like it should. Put into the holder and would not work? realized I left the ground disconnected.
I will give that a look when I get home this evening - thanks!
This is the factory diagnostic manual with some of our notes penciled in at the end. Use this to figure out your issue. While it says 1978 on the manual, the 1978-1979 cars are the same.
The cruise system is easy to diagnose. All you need is a meter/test light and perhaps a hand vacuum pump with gauge. The only complicated part is the fully contained transducer--otherwise the operation of the parts is simple and direct.
Runaway operation until you press the brake pedal is a transducer failure possibility and reason to disconnect the transducer ground to prevent engagement.
Hope that your servo/vacuum motor behind the carb is working as they are not available in the aftermarket, effectively gone in NOS and increasingly difficult to find in salvage.
