Same for mine, and the nice thing with Hagerty's over all the others, we get to keep the car even if it's wreaked plus the check, no headache, no hassle just a check for the insured amount. Yeah, it's more than the other guys, but worth it.
Really? I leaned something! I have NCR Insurance Agency. In 42 years of driving, I never had a claim so I do the dumb thing and look for the cheapest insurance. I have to look into this.

I lived in UTah and Massachusetts. Im not very happy here in Mass any more with the liberal Gov. Its amazing as most of the people outside of Boston are for the majority, conservative. Go figure. I'm surprissed the state isnt bankrupt like california
What I find funny is two guys talking about high taxes, one from Massachusetts and the other from Maryland. Liberal cesspools both of them A liberal never met a tax they didn't like. Don't like it there are two things you can do:
1. Move
2. Stop electing liberal socialists
easier said than done
1. Mother in law lives here so no moving unless divorce lol
2. I am with the group that votes Trump , and against every politician that is Dem , unfortantly we do not have the numbers to ever win.
I love NADA. It says my ‘69 is worth $63K average, $82K high. Woohoo! Soon as it gets out of the shop, it’s up for sale!
BTW, you all know why the State does this. People do a bill of sale for some fictitious amount to reduce their tax.
Come On, Man. If nobody cheated, they wouldn’t have to do this. Some bad apples ruin it for everyone. Although I’m sure there are a few here who see nothing wrong with cheating the State out of tax revenue...
yeah that's what my tax guy said. You bought a 68 Corvette for $2500 dollars????
It RRReeeaaaalllly needs work I said !
CT back in 80's they used to charge property tax on cars like houses. Did same thing. Used rediculous book value. Every state that charges sales tax taxes car sales. If you bought that previously mentioned couch from Goodwill or consignment shop, it would be taxed. Recently NJ has been sending tax bills out to people for book value cuz their reported price was too low. It is not just Massholes, although their "whichever is greater" does rather take the cake.
Well, you guys get off cheap, in Montreal quebec, they have a 'red book' this book is updated every week, where does info come from, well it comes from the 'sales' of the week before, so they say u must pay ""15%"" tax on car, on the book value, but wait, they TELL you what the value is, then use THAT info to tax YOU> catch 22, and the buggers get away with it. can you guys see what they are doing, they say the price and then use the same info for the update. I cannot belive they get away with it, and let me tell you, the prices they
have are very high, I just sold my terrain 2012 for $8,000, the poor guy that bought it paid tax on $14,000. I hope someone wakes up to this theft from govenrment in quebec.

1. Thats even more incentive to move out of state! lol
2.
When 66 Mustangs started selling for 12k it all changed. Getting a private seller to leave price as fill in the blank. I bought several cars the title was only signed. States need the revenue. In Virginia beyond sales tax to dmv there is personal property tax to the city annually. There's is a form for tax relief for beaters reassessing value. If you reassess value to 4k IDK if you could insure it for 8k. You stated it was only worth 4k.
Exactly. And NADA has always been delusional on pricing. I used to hate when a seller would start a sentence with, “well, NADA says...”. That’s almost as bad as when they say, “welll, at Barrett-Jackson...”
Too bad MA uses NADA, though.

Car dealers love NADA the average joe knows thats bs....ask nada $ all day try getting it. CL is full of that stuff-
In Texas, we pay tax on what the car costs, not some arbitrary number in a book. This makes no sense.
Not true. It's the higher of the sales price or "standard presumptive value"...which is wholesale black book value. That said, I bought one of my company vehicles for less than SPV, but the county accepted the bill of sale for tax purposes.
Texans who buy a used vehicle from anyone other than a licensed vehicle dealer are required to pay motor vehicle sales tax of 6.25 percent on the purchase price or standard presumptive value (SPV), whichever is the highest value.

Same here in Michigan.. HOWEVER, registration/license fees are based on the MSRP of the car when it was BRAND NEW if after 1981 I believe.. so we get boned that way..
Man! I guess those of us in PA should be thankful! We pay 6% on what we paid for the car just one time and that price is by your sales receipt. Taxes are collected at the time you transfer title. Your receipt is the last word for the value assessed.
Why blame NADA when the problem is Taxachusetts? I'm a former resident, too. Vote with your feet, or suck it up and pay it.
why blame NADA let me see hmmm 81 corvette low price 13k+ to a high of 32k , you think thats legit ? I will sell you my car for 20k in the middle ..... if NADA had proper estimates who could argue thats why I blame Nada , sure Mass is sticking it by using the most inflated book values only cause they are there.
Not sure its a silver lining I can write off the sales tax against federal income ,
