I still use the Thrush brand. Running a set of old school Thrush Turbos on a 72 Malibu with a 350. I love the sound. It will set off car alarms though.
Thrush mufflers are "glass-packs", IIRC. Not much muffling from them, but they can be used as resonators for "mellowing" exhaust tones. I have a pair near the ends of the exhaust sets on my '65 Grand Prix. The Magnaflow mufflers were just a bit brackish. Very mellow now. The 421 H.O. exhaust system was similarly designed.
If you want to hear an 'open' exhaust system which has been mellowed a bit, they work pretty well.

Thrush has a welded Flowmaster knock off as well as turbo mufflers, not just their classic glass packs. I have a pair of the welded mufflers. They are a 2 chamber muffler that sounds and performs as well as the Flowmasters and sounds the same but at a fraction of the price. They are not real quiet so I would recommend an X pipe system with them. Mine aren't too bad with my 3" X pipe system.
