73 Corvette. I want to replace the instrument cluster and center cluster bulbs with brighter bulbs.
Before I start taking apart the bezels...I want to have the bulbs in hand.
Parts stores, each clerk has a different answer....
Have any of you replaced the bulbs with brighter ones? If so, bulb numbers?
Same with the A/C heater control bulb.

I AGREE. Use LED bulbs from the website above and you will not regret it.
Your dash light bulbs are part number 1895...and the website will have them due to I have done them recently.
I would also recommend your get the 1156 designed LED bulb so if you want a brighter interior lights when you open your door at night. these bulbs will REALLY light up your floorboards.
If you are not worried about NCRS judges peeking behind your cluster, you might consider ganging all your lights together and replacing all your sockets. I found some nice ones on Summit. Having all the bulbs in place (and tested, don't forget that) makes re-installation a lot easier. I made sure the one necessary connection (the spade connector) was easily accessible on the gauge cluster and the speedo as well.
LED’s are not 100% efficient, so yes they do produce heat.
Incandescent produce primarily IR heat which can be felt by items in close proximity, ie your hand or finger.
LED heat produces no real IR heat. The heat produced is due to the inefficiency of the electricity to light conversion and dissipated through a heat sinc.
jeeze, bit by the related thread bug.

I have a 1979 and my instrument lights were extremely dim. So i replaced the printed circuit board and all the sockets and used led lights. The sockets and lights were purchased from Amazon.
Although it appearances your cluster has a different style socket. However I am certain you will be able to hard wire the appropriate socket and led bulb. The led will illuminate your cluster so much better!!!!
