Default Radiator

I need to replace my radiator in my '78 with the L82 motor and automatic transmission. Ecklers has many that range in price from $268 - $799. Any suggestions?

Buy direct from DeWitts, https://www.dewitts.com/, or see if you can get the same thing cheaper from an online reseller or eBay.

Full disclosure: I have stock radiators in my cars, and have not yet needed to upgrade, but I do have a DeWitts dual-Spal fan setup ready to install.

I found a direct fit for about $200 on-line back in 2015. I think I would opt to pay more for a Dewitts if I have to replace it again.

I bought Dewitts via Willcox. I tried a couple of radiators, but the Dewitts was the only one that fit correctly in that car. (a '73.)

I just installed a Dewitts in my 79', fit great. Haven't installed engine yet. Picked it up at their shop which is only a couple miles from my work.

FWIW I pulled my original on 2TONE82 and had it re-cored at a local shop...$75 back in 2015.

The hardest part for me was getting the dang thing out. Turns out there's a little secret that I learned thanks to CF! Here is a link to my post about the saga. Good luck!

2tone82 made a good point.
Why do you believe you "need" to replace your radiator?
Unless it's rotted away (not likely), the best option would actually be to have a local radiator shop boil/clean it, check it for leaks and solder up anywhere it's needed, and you're good to go.
They will tell you if it needs to be replaced, and if it doesn't, you'll be just as well off and for a lot less $$$$ as well.

I picked up a couple DeWitts while I was at Carlisle Pa. swap meet a couple years a go and one for a first gen Camaro. There is a price for quality sometimes and cooling an expensive engine, in my opinion, isn't a place to go with less quality over some cash.

I have no problem with you posting your opinion, what is upsetting is why you always feel the need to argue out the issue. Eleven comments so far and three of them are you.

I have a champion in my 72 that has a ZZ502. No cooling problems. I also has one in my 80 that had a 383, again no cooling problems. They fit fine and look good.

I didnt see where members have limited thread post count ability,
I didnt argue anything,
I wouldnt call it upsetting to me but if i feel misinformation is being posted i will like others toss my opinion into the mix, its what forums are for, sharing information, doesnt mean we will like or agree with everything posted.
In this case expensive radiators are not the only ones that cool well, as 540 just reported.
Just because it upsets you i will post no more replies in this thread and kindly ask anything involving me to hit me in PM.
