I don't know what's available, but the simple thing is to simply learn to know your car. Long before all this "great" technology, people learned how to operate things instead relying on gimmicks and gadgets. You might find a little pride in that.

I have a parking sensor in my garage so I don’t bump the nose. It’s a tennis ball on a string.

I judge where I park in the garage by locating things in the garage that don't move. when I need electronics on a car to tell me how to drive then I don't need to drive

When I bought my first Corvette in 1976 (it was a ‘65), I practiced gauging the end on the nose by setting a big cardboard box in front of it and seeing how close I could get before lightly tapping it.

A few years later when I bought my ‘68, I found the nose again to be kinda scary so I dragged out the old cardboard box excercise again to learn the nose on that car. It helped a lot.

I know, I know, sometimes I even write things on paper, too.

I hung a string with a plastic bottle cap tied on the end from the ceiling. I would have used the tennis ball method (tennis ball on a string) but I have two Yellow Labs who would have assumed it was a new toy for them.

It was a 77 and he had an SUV. Backed up right over it and cracked it down the middle. I do my own paint and body work so I had him pay for materials. I felt bad for the guy he probably though I was going to kill him.

I agree. After you bump the nose the first time, you learn not to do it again.

I don't use them very often at all but have installed cameras front and rear that display on the rear-view mirror. Mostly for the planned addition of a front spoiler / curb feeler

Hey, you could install those electronic sensors in the nose and wire them to fire up a truck horn if someone backs up too close!!

As far as the driver being able to tell where the nose is, practice...practice...practice. The large cardboard box is the perfect practice 'tool'.Just remember that the car is relatively short; so you don't need to pull all the way forward into a parking spot.

You guys are waaay to high tech for me with your fancy strings, tennis ***** and such...but then I do live in Alabama (Roll Tide)...I simply took a sharpie and marked where the back tire should be. When pulling into the garage; open driver door, look down and stop when tire is on mark. Black mark for 2TONE82, red mark for Z06Z16#165 (I hot rack the cars from another garage location where I use the same sophisticated system.)

Not to change to subject but do you know of any garages for rent in Huntsville / Madison? I think a Garage Condo type business would go over big in this area.
