Anyone using a pre oiling system? My 81 does not get used very often and because of this I would like to install a pre lube system, anyone using one of these systems? Many years ago I had an Accusump system by Canton Racing, but their prices have gone crazy. TIA.
Mine sat for 7 years and when I was ready to start it I put a new battery in it and started right up with no problems. Plus I let it sit for weeks and over the winter and start it
right up all good here. Now am I just lucky I don't know but I can only say what I do and how it is. But I would not worry about it. My 2 cents.
I use a pre-lube system on a 540 in a v-drive boat on the recommendation of the engine builder, Hekimian racing engines. For about $300.00 to me it is good insurance on a quality engine. Mark

Reason: spelling
If you want to pre-oil it before actually firing it up, just remove the primary coil wire so the engine can turn over, but not start. Crank the starter to distribute oil until it shows some pressure on the oil gauge. Then put the coil wire back and fire it off. If you need to crank it over for more then 15-20 seconds, you might want to remove a few spark plugs to let the engine turn over more easily. Only remove the ones which are easy to gain access.

If you wanted to go this route I would go one step further and route that wire into the cab through a switch then back out to the coil. Now you have an on/off for the coil.
