They just handed me the 77 corvette.
I refueled and when I got home I noticed that there were gas drops behind it.
They told me it's normal and not to fill up completely.
What is your opinion?
They are the seller.
I don't know where it drop from, I just discovered in the floor in the rear area on the right.
I need to investigate but how to find it ?
A few tips or tricks?
Thanks
If your fuel tank itself not leaking, it could be one or both of the rubber lines that connect the sending unit to the main steel lines to pump.
This is a top view of a 75-77 sending unit. You will have to lower the tank to get at the rubber hoses. The large line on the right is the 3/8 feed to pump and below that is the return line from pump. The line pointing left is just a vapor return line.
Your main focus should be on determining if the "drops" are fuel, oil, coolant or just water (which is emitted from the exhaust). I suggest that you just park the car on a clean section of driveway or parking lot, let it idle and observe if you see any dripping from below the vehicle over a 5 minute period. You could have a fuel leak which could come from an old rubber hose connected to it (best case & simple fix), from a rubbed or rusted thru fuel line, or from some pinhole of damage on the tank. If you don't see any dripping from behind, check underneath for the full length of the vehicle. If you don't see any drips, move the car 20 feet forward and carefully look at the paved area where the car was parked to see if there were any other drips. If so, use a tissue to soak up any fluid to find out what color it is and whether it has any tell-tale smell...like coolant or P/S fluid, or oil, etc.
Thank you very much guys.
From the smell it is certainly gasoline.
I suppose it's the tank because the pawn has ceased after a 50-kilometer ride.
Could it be that the tank was too full and has overflowed from the vapour return line?
There is a possibility to inspect it without dismount it, may be with an edoscope?

if you park it to see where it drips, mark where the tires were to help determine the area it is coming from before you move the car. Yes it could be the vapor return.
As others have stated, you need to clean it, park it somewhere clean and observe for 24 hours.
Yes, and overfull tank can sometimes leak but that's indicative of other possible problems. Focus your efforts on hoses first.
