Default nose emblem attachment

My nose emblem was stolen off my '68 and at long last I have a new old stock one here.
How are these things attached? There's no threads or nuts. Just some sort of adhesive?

There are spin nuts that attach to the posts on the rear of the emblem. If you don’t have any, all the vendors carry them.

I could be wrong (difficult to tell from computer screen) but that doesn't look like a nose emblem. If it is FLAT across the back surface, that is for the fuel door. The nose emblem should be 'sloped' from the center outward to match with the shape of the nose.

If it has pins that protrude from the rear, you must use sheet metal nuts (see above) to attach them. Only put enough torque to remove all free-play from the emblem. If you put excess torque on those nuts, you will either strip the pin or break it off.

If you don't want the metal of that emblem to be riding on your paint, you could put some double-sided tape (3M emblem tape) on the backside before installing the sheet metal nuts. If you do this, make sure you have tape on ALL of the metal emblem surface so that it will be supported evenly.

Thanks 71, it is a nose emblem, just the angle so you can’t see the shape in it. I also have a gas tank one so I know what you mean. Good tips on the emblem tape, thank you.
