When I bought the car the washers did not work but thought I could deal with it later. So today I dropped the reservoir out the bottom and to my surprise there was no washer motor or any loose wires that looks like they would attach to the motor. I bought a new motor, installed it in the bottom of the reservoir but now my dilemma is what wires attach to the motor. I do see two short clipped wires coming out of the wiring harness plug. One (I believe) pink and one yellow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
In the '79 the washer pump is powered by a white wire (+12V ignition from the WIPER fuse) and pink wire (ground provided by the wipe/wash switch). Since white often discolors to a yellowish color you have likely found the proper leads.
In '79 the wires for the washers are white (+12V ignition from the WIPER fuse) and pink (ground from the wash/wipe switch). Since unwrapped white wires often turn to a yellowish color you've probably found the proper ones.
The only other nearby wires in '79 are for the cruise control (brown and white) and the alarm horn (yellow and orange).
