That was the picture I had posted last week that you could only see if you were on facebook. Glad that you were able to post it on the forum. Yes this is a very nice mod that I have not seen many of. The headlights look great. Not sure how that was done.
Ive seen that car a few times before,
While im not really a fan of smaller modern lights on c3s the overall flow and look is nice, mean,
I agree the headlights need surrounds so they dont look so kit car ish, or just unfinished,
It looks like the idea worked partly with orginal holes and doors which is likely why is does look pretty good,
Roger, I now see that this was the Corvette you mentioned. I like the light idea myself. And it seems they moved the pivot locations to get the door to open like it is....or possibly use something similar to a short window track to allow the outer corners to raise up more. And more than likely can still use the vacuum pod but may need to change the end of the headlight pod eyelet to a spherical end.
Richard. I like you choice in headlights. You never cease to amaze me on where you are taking your build to. You take items from other types of cars an redesign them so they do not look like you plastered them onto you car with no though at all
I would like to do one where when closed looks like OEM. But when it opens it's a lower profile headlight and the headlight door doesn't open as far.
That's exactly what LEDs could do for you. I s'pose the MDX lights (above) would be DOT approved. All of the light bars on Amazon or eBay are off-road only for Jeeps and whatnot. I don't think it's an issue with a backup light, but you'd probably want your headlights to be legit or you'll be asking for trouble.
I really like the angry lights, though. I assume they open and close? Is there a video somewhere?

The only problem I can see with the MDX headlights would be in aiming them. The lights in the MDX are mounted at quite and angle while the vette lights are more straight accross the fromt.

Yea- the vettes are about 12º- BUT the new ''Jewel" lights (2019) are even smaller- and look like they'd fit- leaving enough room to match the correct angle.
Now the new Ford GT lights look bada$$....But would cost as much as a rubber bumper C3!!!
Mine are fixed lights, lo profile rectangular GLASS bulbs, trans am type lights, the bulbs and mounts are junkyard finds, the lamps were glued in from factory, so one pair is updated with decent bulbs....
Not sure- but look like the are made by "unobtanium"
They are LED...
'Ford's new LEDs clock in at a chilly 5,600 K, about the same as bright white sunlight at noon. (Halogen lights hang out at around 3,200 K.) Kumar says 5,600 K provides an optimal combination of visibility and glare reduction. "The eye perceives cooler, bluer lights better, therefore increasing visibility.”
One big reason for this is Ford's lights are cooler. Literally. Here's a quick primer on color temperature, which is the temperature at which a black object would glow that color. Heat that black slab to around 3,000 degrees Kelvin and you get yellow and red. Subject it to around 5,000 degrees Kelvin, you get bluish white. Yes, it's a bit confusing, because higher temperatures generate "cooler" colors.'
While I like the look, who's actually going to notice anything at night?
I had the rectangle bulb conversion in two different c3s, the lights look stock just rectangle bulbs,
You would be surprised how many people noticed and most thought gm should have done it that way....
