rotor holes

Default rotor holes
Took the old front rotors off and I found several holes drilled in the hat. I've never seen anything like this before. Looks like it was done at a factory or at least someone had some good drilling equipment because the holes are perfectly aligned.Attached Thumbnails

Put in there to keep rotors from getting (too) hot? Never saw it before either....

You take these off the front or the back???

I've seen holes like that, before, on OE rotors, but don't remember what car, and in all honesty, didn't really give it a second thought. Balance holes, maybe??

Mercedes used to do that on some rotors, sold em but never inquired the purpose

I took these off of the front. They were riveted to the hubs. One had the holes and the other side did not.
