What year is your car, what bonding strips are you talking about, pictures always help! Are you talking about the bonding lines that run down the front and rear fender lines?

Okay, so here is what was suggested that I do to both my 69 and 71 projects. The cars were both in the no paint stage, raw fiberglass. Tool used was a air driven small sander (36 grit) roloc pads, tilted on edge a little I formed a small groove in the bonding seam line. This must be done cautiously so you don't blow through the fiberglass. You would then have a shallow bed for your VPA (Vette Panel Adhesive ) to adhere to. There are some dynamics to VPA which you should be aware of. This product is extremely strong and can setup quickly so you want to apply it as smooth as you can feathering the edges similar to applying drywall compound. Once applied you can actually start sanding with 80 grit. I would strongly advise testing VPA on something just to see what I am saying. You can use a razor blade to remove any ridges after just a few minutes. Once this stuff cures sanding is a bear. You don't want to apply VPA and wait a few days because it will be very hard to work but still doable. Hope this helps, there is probably more but I don't want to right a book. Below are some pictures. I was a novice and the suggestions were all part of my learning curve supplied to me by Dub who is a professional on the forum.

What do you want? Bonding strips or bonding seams? All C3s have both.

so, vpa can also be used as a fill for shaping and general body work etc ?prep surface as you would using bondo on a steel car?what grit to sand surface before use?is there any other kind of filler that works well an easier to use?

YES..
Vette Panel Adhesive is also a filler. So as like 'rvzio' showed. The Vette Panel Adhesive CAN be used to fill in seams and other types of body work ...BUT it is not a bonding adhesive for SMC panels. BUT it can be used to do bodywork on SMC panels....such as filling in seams.

I use anything from 24 grit up to 80 grit and I can apply the VPA on it and it will stick.

Like any other types of body filler.... you want to make sure the fiberglass is free of dust and any other type of contaminants prior to applying it.

I can tell you that this stuff may mix and spread like 'bondo' but it gets hard so knowing how to use it so you do not over work yourself ...it may be beneficial for you to understand how it works. This is a heavy body filler and you need to be forceful in mixing it so you can get the air out of it.

There are tricks in using this stuff to make it easier on you. I can help if you in this if you desire....or contact 'rvzio' because he also knows about the VPA...along with other members who were made aware of it and how to use it.

Also contact EVERCOAT and ask them how to read the date code so when and IF you go and buy ti...you can make sure you are getting fresh product that is within their year warranty.
