I tested my lights today, after replacing all the interior and dash bulbs in my 77.
Here is what works and what doesn't work:
- Dome light works... OK
- Courtesy lights LH & RH work... OK
- 'Brake' light works... OK
- 'Bright' light works... OK
- Signal lights L & R works... OK
- 'Low fuel' works... OK
- 'GEN' works... OK
- 'Fasten belts' works... OK
- Auto transmission light... Not working
- Centre console lighting (oil, clock etc.)... Not working
- Speedo en tach lighting... Not working
-A/C control lighting... Not working
I don't know how it is possible that these lights don't work. I just replaced them, thats all I did (it are the right bulbs).

What may be the problem?
The common ground for this circuit starts at the left hinge pillar near courtesy lamp. See if the screw attaching grounding eyelet to pillar is missing or loose.
I'd be interested in hearing what you find, I have a similar problem except the 2 green arrows for turn signals light dimly. The PO had removed the fuse for a reason.

I found a small hole, next to the 'hood handle', in the LH pillar. There isn't any wire attached to it.
I searched for any wire hanging loose, but couldn't find any.
I couldn't find any wire with an eyelet used for anything else either.
Very strange... Before I took the dash apart to replace all the bulbs, the instrument panel lighting worked (not very bright though, but i could see that there was light).
Can I add an extra wire and attach it to the small hole with an eyelet, to work as a ground just for the instrument lighting?
Is there another place that I can find the common ground wire (apart from the LH pillar). Are there other connection points for that common ground wire. That way I can track it down?

I think I found the common ground wire with the eyelet.
Is it this wire?
I don't know if the paint on the head would be the problem?
Can I start the engine without the speedometer cable connected to the speedometer? That way I can clean the ground screw and eyelet, and start the engine to test if the instrument lights work. (Having a hard time to get that cable in and out so costs lots of time for me)
I agree #14 black wire, also there should be a external star lock washer that will bite into the pillar metal, washer, eyelet, then install the screw.
Ok, I cleaned the eyelet and the spot where it has to be installed.
I installed it the proper way with the washer and 'star washer'.
I tested the fuse for the 'instrument panel lights' again to be sure, and it's good.
I still got no lighting...
Is there something else that can cause the problem?
Something else to try, With your headlight switch pulled park or headlight position make sure it is turned full clockwise (Bright/Dim Instrument Lamps) to Bright. You should now have 12vdc or so to ground at the INST. LPS 5 amp fuse DK. Green wire. With a good 5 amp fuse you should have 12vdc or so to ground on the other side of fuse Gray wire.
The Dk. Green wire (INST/LPS circuit gets it power from the headlight switch. The #14 Black wires you see all come from that eyelet area you cleaned up.
I found the problem, and now I feel really stupid...
Two pins were bent when reconnecting the cable for the headlight switch. So these pins didn't make a connection.
I bent the pins back in their proper place, and put the connector back on...
Now everything works as it should!
