ok, this was in the box of parts for my 68 427. I think it goes too the valve cover on the dr side. But not sure, the temp sending unit is in the head. would it be for that ? It looks like it might have had a coated finish at one time? Give me your thoughts guys! Thanks Troy

thank you for the reply.. i was just looking thru the 68-69 NCRS manual, looking for a picture of the proper valve cover for the dr side. and on page 113 fig 3.3 it shows my proper cover. and in the picture, you can see what looks likes the clip bolted too one of the top valve cover bolt. well i think we may have figured it out. but now the next question is: what wire is up there that it would be holding? thanks again troy

i am with yaa nowhere man, but the temp sender is in the head on the dr side. not in the intake like earlier yrs..i was wondering if it is a random clip they put on all motors in case it has a fast idle noid for A/C? JUST A THOUGHT.....pictures of a restored or original motor would be nice. but im not gonna push the issue. i was hoping someone would just KNOW for sure. thanks all troy

Troy

It's the oil pressure line clip. Bolts to the drivers side head. It shown in the AIM on page RPO L36 page A5 item 10. The clip end was plastic coated.

The AIM diagram make it appear it bolts to an exhaust manifold bolt but it doesn't. There is a hole on the side of the head for it to bolt to.

on a 55-67 engine the temp sender is in the intake Thus the wire runs along the intake/ valve cover area. There are two clips that hold it on a SB. I retract the BB usage as the clips are made into the valve cover. And on SB with stamped steel valve covers. So only cars with aluminum valve covers got the clip
