Default 72 wipers not working

Hello Chaps from downunder. Few weeks back went for a long cruise got caught in a short but intense thunderstorm for 5 minutes, wipers worked ok during the thunderstorm, turned them off, then went to turn on again to wipe away residual moisture off the screen, the wiper door activated and went up ok but the wipers didn't come on. turned the off and on a few times still not working. The wiper door opens and closes without a hitch.

I'm not an auto electrician or that knowledgeable with electrics but thought I;d start with checking fuses? if a fuse, which fuse in the fuse box or where is it located. other than that wondering where to look next?

The fuse box is located on the left side under driver's side dash on the firewall and the wiper fuse is clearly labeled. From memory, it might be the 2nd one down from the top on the right side row. It is likely your problem. If it continues to 'blow', that would need other solutions, like maybe a loose or faulty wire/ground.

Have you checked the service switch under the dash?

Then look at the limit switch on the firewall

The fuse is located below- but I don't think that's your problem

Pictures below thanks to Willcox-

Your right Richard, its not the fuse,

If its either service Switch or the limit switch, what would show whats the problem, is there a way to test?

I've opened and closed the service switch for the wiper door and it works perfectly, I then tried to turn the wipers on via the operation switch still no wipers. Both sides of the service switch work i.e. lights and wiper door

Is the limit switch under the wiper door, i.e. remove the grill and open the wiper door or is it in the engine bay itself behind the dizzy (couldn't work out the overall location from the image)? its a SB 350 if that makes a difference

The limit switch is just under that cover , you can see the "button" that the little arm pushes to activated the switch

Thanks Bazza, saw the problem. The edge on the wiper wasn't seating priorly on the switch button, realigned the switch and it worked so hopefully this should permanently solve the issue
