My 69 tank stock filler neck is different bigger than your 79,
I can shove or should say 30 years ago i shoved my hand right into the tank of the 72 i had then,

Sorry if i confused it but i havent made that adaptor yet,
My cap is the basic generic import cap 99.9% sell as a lemans or cobra cap, it screws to a base in my case livrpool welded the flange to the screw base,

My plan was unbolt the stock tank filler neck and use it as the bottom part and likely use exhaust pipe to the base of the flange and build and adaptor for that to bolt together then bolted back on the tank, but i havent ruled out rubber couplers like you ran,

Keep in mind my build while everything is restored isnt supposed to look it, i am trying to do an old school racer look not perfect by far,

A c3 next step up version of this

I know our 65 Chevy truck uses a rubber connector & clamps from the filler neck to the fill pipe.... may be a cheaper & easier solution?

Jim,
Our vw trike uses what appears to be a radiator hose,
The generic type, the filler is a screw in idea mounted in the body i believe from a boat

I like the rubber coupler so its not so ridged, there could be movement between tank and body,

Experienced guys here?

After seeing your work , pictures and little give aways etc its obvious you are no novice,

The guy i swapped engines with did his 73 body bushing just like you did, he did it in his apt complex parking lot before moving to a place with a huge shop

. It is probably marine fuel hose. And probably a marine filler neck. https://www.fillernecksupply.com/2-c...BoCx-oQAvD_BwE

Cool! I admire people accomplishing things in adverse circumstances. Years a go my cousin and his friend took a trip to the states down through South Dakota with his 75 Camaro. Transmission gave out on the way and they caught a ride into town, bought a transmission, took it back to the car and replaced the transmission on the side of the highway - I think that was on the crazy side but I suppose when you're on holidays and the budget is tight...

I just finished your build thread Pzark - that's really something you've accomplished there. I'm jealous that you figured out a way to keep the crash protection, I wanted to add more to my 79 but I'm not as creative as you and I couldn't come up with a way to add additional crash protection to the rear of my 79 and felt kind of overwhelmed by it and decided to skip it. I'm really curious as to how you were able to position the rear bumpers accurately before you had the rear cap made and how you were able to come up with the added gas tank protection and know it was going to give you room and not prevent you from installing the gas tank or something.

you pop riveted in the bonding strips for the quarter sections? I would think screws might make more sense. you can take on and off to adjust and you don't have to drill them out in the end.

To a passing glance they may look the same but I am sure that you can testify having been there that they are anything but.
You know it. The early and later rear body panels are similar enough to do it the way I did, but its quite a fight and large amounts of trial and error to get it to flow from older rear clip to newer recipient.

I think my 75 convert will be an easier job than your 79 was. PLUS I have yours, Tony's and now Pzark's as reference material... OP: Were you a member of the Pzark Mountain Daredevils? And rear side markers. You relocated them lower? I am thinking just a red round bullet LED mounted below the bumper.

I was pleased to find the 79 side rear marker lights are the same size and shape as the 70-73 ones so finally that was one thing I didn't need to buy for the conversion. The 68/69 rear side marker lights are quite a bit smaller than the 70-73 ones.

The stingray emblem and stingray script were on the original stingray racer. Lou.

I also saw that when the 63's came out that they cut the script emblem so that stingray was two words to match the new Corvettes. It did not look as nice to me. Lou.
