1979 corvette rebuild with some changes
I can shove or should say 30 years ago i shoved my hand right into the tank of the 72 i had then,
Sorry if i confused it but i havent made that adaptor yet,
My cap is the basic generic import cap 99.9% sell as a lemans or cobra cap, it screws to a base in my case livrpool welded the flange to the screw base,
My plan was unbolt the stock tank filler neck and use it as the bottom part and likely use exhaust pipe to the base of the flange and build and adaptor for that to bolt together then bolted back on the tank, but i havent ruled out rubber couplers like you ran,
Keep in mind my build while everything is restored isnt supposed to look it, i am trying to do an old school racer look not perfect by far,
A c3 next step up version of this
Our vw trike uses what appears to be a radiator hose,
The generic type, the filler is a screw in idea mounted in the body i believe from a boat
I like the rubber coupler so its not so ridged, there could be movement between tank and body,
After seeing your work , pictures and little give aways etc its obvious you are no novice,
The guy i swapped engines with did his 73 body bushing just like you did, he did it in his apt complex parking lot before moving to a place with a huge shop

The early and later rear body panels are similar enough to do it the way I did, but its quite a fight and large amounts of trial and error to get it to flow from older rear clip to newer recipient.

I was pleased to find the 79 side rear marker lights are the same size and shape as the 70-73 ones so finally that was one thing I didn't need to buy for the conversion. The 68/69 rear side marker lights are quite a bit smaller than the 70-73 ones.
