Default Distributor Cap?

Can anyone tell me the part number for the Delco Remy cap for a 1970 LT-1. There is also a number on the top of the cap.

Thank you.

The correct AC Delco distributor cap is the D308R. This cap was used on all Corvette V-8's from 1962 till 1974, and some earlier Chevy V-8's. The caps originally said "Delco-Remy Patent Pending" on the top of them, but the cap currently available from Delco has no markings on it. There is a repro cap with the correct markings on it available from most Corvette vendors for about $50.

That is not totally correct. The L88 & ZL1 used a dark brown cap. For the OP, the cap would be black With Delco Remy Patent Pending in a circular pattern around the center tower. Some original caps may have a R after Patent Pending. There should be a reinforcement that runs vertically about 3/4's the way up the right side of the window from the base of the cap.

Default Cap

Looking in eBay, there are a couple used caps with Patent Pending, and many with only Patent followed by a series of numbers. The ones with Patent Pending say the application runs up to about 1967-69 depending on the auction. Are they correct? Since I may have the car NCRS judged some day, I might as well get it right the first time.

Which one is correct for my ‘70?

Thanks.
