Hello everyone, this tread is coming to you from down under (summertime here) Took my 79 out for a run today, its been 2 weeks since our last outing. when i first started the car up, it was reving higher than normal. I put that down to the 2 weeks non driving, but it took longer than normal for revs to drop down to normal. During my drive, i had this feeling that the car was running higher revs than normal, also i thought that i had to apply more pressure to my brake pedal to pull the car up. Now has anyone had this happen to them? if so how was this problem solved? Also on my return trip home, my tacho stopped working, is this just normal probs with owning a corvette, as i have had no problems for nearly 3 years

Sounds to me like the choke is not pulling off all the way stuck on the high idle cam spray some carb cleaner on the choke linkages they may be full of crud...as for your tach the wire may have come off the distributor check that before anything ...also perhaps the tach board is done quite common for your year I have a 79 and the board did go on it I also replaced the tach filter

Thank you Easy Mike and G dad, i started my car up the next day and the car idled correctly and also the tacho worked fine.
The day i went for a drive it was hot and very humid so the weather might have been playing havoc with the car, the brakes seemed to have
the same problem "more pressure to stop the car" so this will give me something to sort out before i have to go back to work.
again thanks for the tips.

I agree with this assessment. Check to see if the choke is stuck shut, or not coming off completely, leaving it in fast idle.
