After coming close to purchasing a classic Corvette several times, I finally did it. I have been on this forum many times seeking info. I believe this is my first post.
Purchased a 1970 LT-1 Coupe with the original engine and trans, and I believe rear. Have not verified the rear yet. One repaint in 1985, base clear. Paint is weak, but presentable for a driver. Marlboro Maroon, with black comfort weave interior. Missing the TI distributor and control box, but the TI harness is still there and uncut. The drive cable for the tach is also still there. Mounting holes are in the front of the driver's side wheel well for the TI box, with two of the three bolts still there. Original carb and big oil pan still present.
Because the car has mostly sat since 1985 (only has 36036 on it) the brake calipers are all leaking. Pulled them this afternoon, and they are not the originals.
One tear in the comfort weave on driver's seat. James (not sure of his handle here, goes by firstgenaddict over on the yenko site) told me I could get NOS comfort weave still, so the plan is to just have the inserts replaced.
Car still has the original Goodyear spare. It has been on the ground, but it is the original. All 5 AZ wheels are there, dated early Feb 70. Car was built mid to late Feb.
Can't post pics as my computer is fouled up (seems to be a theme with me lately) but will when I get the chance. Looking forward to getting this one back on the road.
These are the only pics I have on my computer at the office. Dropped off my home computer to get it fixed this morning. Will post more pics when I can.
The most interesting part of this story is the adventure of going to pick up the car and the extra rolling chassis I got with the car. Will post later on that.
Took the brake calipers off Sat. They are not the originals. Ordered some from Lonestar. Need to get brakes on this car before I can drive it around any.
