Default Repainting '72 Steering Column

The picture below is the steering column out of my '72. Interior is dark saddle. The steering column is mostly metal but does have a plastic piece. I want to refinish the column before reinstalling. I called Corvette America and asked them if their interior dye would work on metal. Even with using the primer the sales person was unsure how well their paint would work on metal.

Any suggestion on what paint to use that will closely match? Primer? Paint? Clear coat?

Thanks in advance for any/all help.

SEM 15033 (Saddle Tan) is close. The actual interior color is just Saddle.

Vinyl dye is still a "paint"; but it has an elastomer added so that it can flex with plastic parts (and bond to them). You can use matching vinyl dye to recolor ANY surface to which paint will stick. I've done my column with vinyl dye...work fine.
