79 vette engine stall
driving at 20 mph my engine stalled. pulled off the road, waited a minute and it started back up. Drove it again latter in the day and had a repeat episode. What could it be all temps and pressures normal battery ok ?
Is my vette stock?? HAHA

does it just suddenly die or does it start to stutter before it dies. If it cuts out like you turned the key off I would look for an electrical issue, maybe the coil at first, then power to the coil. If it feels like its running out of gas, then look in that direction. Could be a filter or failing fuel pump. Im leaning electrically so far since it heals itself. How long since the last tuneup?

Take a timing light with you. As soon as it stalls but the timing light on it drank it and see if the light is blinking. Close I have a can of starting fluid with you. All the top off the air cleaner give it a squirt. Is could tell you whether it's lack of fuel or lack of spark is making it quit. My vote is lack of spark. Ignition opponents can get intermittent and just stop. Lack of fuel usually shows up at higher fuel use than chugging along at 20 miles an hour.
