Around here in Fresno California I notice other Vette owners always giving a wave to me. It is part of the fun of being in the “club”. From reading in this thread it sounds like this pretty much happens everywhere else. I haven’t noticed it pertaining to a certain generation of Vette owner either. When ever I see another Vette on the road I always make it a point to give a wave If I haven’t already received one. #Keepthewavegoingstrong

I enjoy the fleeting camaraderie and return the wave. At the filling station the other day a BMW pulled into the pump behind me as I was getting out of the car. The driver waved and I so returned the wave. As I was about to run my credit card at the pump he said, "Wait, I'd like to fill your tank...I love C3's! I have owned other sport cars but this one has been the most fun.

Regards,
Tom69

I always wave at vettes and any classic car I see. but I also say hi to a stranger or nod my head sometimes when walking by if we make eye contact. most vette drivers wave back with the exception of many newer vette owners. the C7 drivers seem to not wave at all for some reason.

I always wave! Waving at the other classics too, as I know the difficulty and expense keeping these classics running. Sadly I find the newer Vettes hard to recognize.

I always wave and always return a wave with a wave. I feel bad when I miss another vette and it's too late to wave. I usually get a wave back, but if I don't that's ok too.

H-m-m-m-m. I thought it was just me and my C3. I attend a 300+ Vette event that during the evening before, most of them are cruising around the city streets. I give the "V" symbol wave to every Vette driver. But I noticed C5, C6s seldom return the gestor. But the C2, C3s and occasional C1 will always wave.

I am lucky enough to have a C7 as well as C3. I have noticed a far higher percentage of other vette drivers waving when I am in the C3 regardless what model they are driving.

Nowadays, I only wave at the monthly “wave” threads.

I wave to other Corvettes when I'm in my Corvette. Hell, I'll even wave to other muscle cars of the era. I've found that the latest generation of Vette drivers (C6's and C7's) don't wave back. My guess is they are new to the Corvette hobby (or just look at their Corvette as just another car) and don't know the community enough to wave back. They will eventually figure it out or just sell the car without ever knowing the tradition.

I wave at other Vettes and cool cars in general tons of Vettes here in FL and it seems newer Vettes don’t wave. I still do.

I have to say that Jeep owners seem to be the most consistent wavers. My wife has a Jeep and I bet on the 30 minute ride to the beach today we waved 50 times.

Yesterday in the ‘66 with my daughter and an old timer was cruising along in his ‘62. I pulled up next to him, waved, downshifted and (loudly) took off. My 12yr old daughter waved and the guy gave us the thumbs up. Cool.

When I was a little guy, I used to ride with my dad in the ‘66 (I own it now) and I remember him waving at other Vettes. I asked him why he waved, he said, “because Corvette owners are cool dudes”. LOL
