Help diagnosing cigarette lighter
On my 71 350/270 the lighter pushes in, but it doesn't get hot or pop out.
I've checked the fuse, what next?
Thanks!

I wanted to use the lighter socket in my 77 for power to a Bluetooth receiver/FM transmitter so I could listen to music off of my phone. No juice for the transmitter when I plugged it in. I got the Dremel tool out and put the cone shaped wire brush on it. I used it to scrub about 40 years worth of crud out of the bottom of the lighter socket and viola, power restored! I’d try simple before you tear into the console. Good luck!

Test it to see if you get 12vdc to the 'hot' pin AND that you have a good electrical ground to the casing. If so, replace your lighter. The heating elements fail from use--and possibly from lack of use. You can also check resistance of the lighter coil by measuring from the lighter housing to the center of the heating element. It should measure a low resistance. If it measures as an "open" circuit, replace the element or the lighter.

Thanks for the help. I figured it out, it was unplugged 😁. After repluging and replacing the bulb all was happy. Here are photos of the wiring for posterity
