As I recall, a few threads are exposed. There should be room for the Caution - POSI red plastic tag to hang on there also.
I usually put a dab of pipe dope / thread sealant on there too.

with 'HeadsU.P.'The fill plug does not seat fully.
I do not apply any thread sealant on it ...and so far...in 30+ years...I do not have any oil wicking out from the threads of the fill plug.....but do as you wish
