Since you are in Sacramento, check out Corvette Express in Vacaville.
They are a Corvette specialty shop who has been in business for many years with an excellent reputation in the Sacramento Valley and Bay Area.
LJ's Speed and Machine in Napa has been in business for 50 years, they are the go to shop for any performance parts, accessories or machine work.
There is also the 13th annual Corvettes only car show this weekend at the Hooters on Truxel Rd in North Sacramento (Natomas).
If it doesn't get rained out there should be plenty of C3's there to look at and people to talk with.
Post us some pictures of what you have.
We always like pictures.
I've been meaning to check out Corvette Express for a bit, but haven't managed to make it there yet. Looks like the show has been postponed, but I'll keep an eye out for the new date. Thanks for the tips!
Do you have a big block or a small block in yours? I've got the 350/350 in mine, I figure I wouldn't need something super stiff to get the right level of performance there?
I have an SBC 4-speed. It corners flat enough, but squats a bit more than I would like. I'd recommend 360#, and heim-joint strut rods, at a minimum, but YMMV. Look for some other anecdotes.

Looking into the rear end that's in it now, it probably needs a real upgrade. I didn't realize the 80-82 models only had about 200 HP (pulled that number from another thread, didn't double check). I don't really feel like I need to jump to a C4 as I'm not going to be asking that much from it, but I think I need something stronger than aluminum. Any advice there?
The batwing diff was put in for a reason. Likely to save weight. If you want to swap back, GTR1999 is one of the Forum experts on diffs. He can make a recommendation on what to get, or rebuilt a pre-80 unit better than you'll ever need. He does not do batwing diffs, though.
