I recently bought a 1970 454, and looking to replace the 12 year old Goodyear Eagle GT+4 (225/70R15) which are presently on the car, with Firestone Wide Oval GR70-15. They’re radial but look like polyglas. According to Coker they are equivalent to a 225/70R15. I’m also leaning towards redlines but the RWL looks pretty nice too. Opinions?
Most importantly, is anyone driving on these tires? Any fitment issues?
How’s the performance and ride quality? Pictures and comments appreciated.
The raised white letter would look OEM for a '70. Redlines look great. You will not have any fitment issues. The ride and handling will not be as good as modern radials.
I put the FR70-15 wide oval radials on my 69 and love them. Look like biased ply but run like radials. On your 70, personally I would go with the white letters since redlines weren't available in 70....

Thanks! I thought the GR70-15 are radials that look like bias polglas tires? Shouldn’t they perform well?
I wanted a set of red lines ,until I seen the price ,then I thought no!
They are pricy, especially compared to the BFG Radial T/A. There are a couple of discount codes available for the next couple of weeks which can knock a couple hundred off the price. Still expensive, but not quite as bad.
