If it's coming from the dash, it's either the tach or the speedo. If your car has a mechanical tach. IF not, speedo. There used to be a shop in Independence MO that rebuilt them, but they're gone. Couple of places online that repair/rebuild, or you can get a reman from one of the vendors.
I disconnected the speedo at the transducer and eliminated the speedo I test drive with it disconnected and sound was still there now there is another cable from the tranny to the transducer it was still hooked up..just wondering if that could be it or a speedo gear in the tranny.
Hello, I have an 82 with the same problem I think. Sounds like birds chirping under the dash. Mine may be speedometer related though. I don't hear the sound when the car is idling or when I rev it up. Only when moving. The faster I go the more frequent the chirping. When it is warm outside and/or the car heats up the sound sometimes goes away. I'll be interested what you find out with your problem. Have not had time to look into it on my vehicle.
Have a solution to the problem transducer is good bottom cable is the culprit I sprayed some lubricant in the cable and guess what all is quiet now so I will have to replace the bottom cable with a new one finally figured it out this noise has been driving me crazy for six months only took a few hours the diagnostic have a solution to the problem transducer is good bottom cable is the culprit I sprayed some lubricant in the cable and guess what all is quiet now so I will have to replace the bottom cable with a new one finally figured it out this noise has been driving me crazy for six months only took a few hours To diagnose I pulled the transducer checked it out it looks new inside remind you the car only has 29,000 miles. After removing the transducer I still had the noise so then I sprayed lubricant in the cable and GuessWhat all is well.
