Default Window weatherstripping issue

I recently had my 78 vette repainted. I purchased a replacement EPDM weatherstripping kit from Ecklers that the paint shop installed after painting. With the doors closed the power windows on both sides will not completely close. The shop has tried several fixes but the windows stop about 1/2 inch from the top. With the doors open the windows go up fine and seal completely when the doors are closed. I can open the windows ok but closing is an issue. With the rear seal removed the windows will go up and down with out an issue. The shop owner feels the epdm on the rear seal is too hard causing the window to bind up and stop. Has anyone experienced this type of problem?

Hey Red. Had the same problem with my 72. New weather stripping just prior to me acquiring the car. I could only get to about 3/8 inch with door closed, but if opened would go up and seal fine. Put new window motors in, played with the weatherstripping and adjusting windows. Could not get any improvement. Very frustrating. Lately been opening the door prior to raising and then closing it to seal. Maybe some one has some ideas?

mine is the same way, and im using the CRC seals which are great, honestly I think the biggest restriction is the dew wipe seal and inner door window seal which fit very snugly against the glass

hoping the last several months have relaxed the seals or dust from use will get into the pores and make it slide easier

Interesting. I’m having similar issues after rebuilding the slides and rollers.

I know that Willcox has a 'how-to' but I spent enough hours inside the doors so I'll do like everyone else and open the door, roll it up the last little bit and close the door.

see I had the same issue long before I replaced the seals, the grease was more like wax, so I cleaned all that out and used all new hardware... then I had so much issue rolling the window back up, I replaced all the new with the old (nothing was broken) re-greased... and it went up and down faster than ever

so much for trying to fix something that *wasn't broke*
